Alfio Carpini and Ursula Carpini-Dürrschmidt are not new to the experience of being excellent hosts and producers of fine quality products. Both have many years experience in the organic cultivation of vines and in the production of an excellent D.O.C.G. wine : Vino Nobile di Montepulciano.
Alfio and Ursula arrived at Nuova Pievanella after many years of success in the Montepulciano area where they created two of its most renowned vineyards: La Casella e Il Conventino.
Alfio
The wine produced by Alfio at La Casella is known throughout the world and was one of the principal factors in the success of the Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Credit for this success goes without a doubt to the ideal geographical location of the vineyards, to the care taken in the creation of the facilities for processing the grapes, including the cellars with their large oak casks, to the wise decision to place quality above quantity, and above all, to the passion and dedication which Alfio has always brought to his work and which, quite deservedly, has made him one of the most well-known and respected wine producers in Italy and abroad.
Ursula
Ursula came to Montepulciano after a career in the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Thanks to her great enthusiasm and the effort which she dedicated to the study, both practical and theoretical, of the production of wine and the science of enology, she succeeded in reaching a level of quality that earned her international fame and the admiration and respect of even the most established of Italian wine producers.
Ursula has also held an interest in the cultivation of olives and the production of olive oil, an interest that will certainly occupy much of her time at Nuova Pievanella.

The love that Alfio and Ursula have for the Tuscan countryside is not limited to the organic cultivation of grapes and olives, but is also expressed in their strong desire to share it with the rest of the world through a hospitality that goes beyond that found on the beaten tourist track.
If at Montepulciano they counted a great number of guests, many of whom returning guests, at Nuova Pievanella, that number is certain to increase.
